Sam Vojdani, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee joint replacements. He is an Atlanta native, born and raised in Peachtree Corners and graduating from Duluth High School. He attended Georgia Tech as a President’s Scholar, its top scholarship, and graduated with degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Biology with Highest Honors. He was recognized as the #1 graduating student in the College of Sciences, alongside numerous other accolades.
Dr. Vojdani pursued medical training at the Medical College of Georgia, graduating at the top of his class. He received Alpha Omega Alpha honors, recognizing the Top 10% of national medical students, along with the Gold Humanism Award, personifying the highest standards in patient interaction. He then completed his orthopedic surgery residency training at Stony Brook University Hospital in New York, where he was named Chief Resident in his final year and received the award for Most Outstanding Research. Following residency, Dr. Vojdani was accepted to the prestigious Frank E. Stinchfield Adult Reconstruction Fellowship at Columbia University in NYC, under the tutelage of some of the field’s pioneers and leaders. There he mastered advanced hip and knee replacement techniques in surgical approach, robotic and navigation software utilization, and while on staff, he performed simple to complex primary and revision hip and knee joint surgeries.
Prior to joining Total Joint Specialists, Dr. Vojdani held a faculty position at Emory University, where he was recognized as the Top 1% of physicians in patient satisfaction, care, and ‘likely to recommend to others.’ During his tenure in the department, he assisted in resident education, advanced novel research, and implemented innovative surgical and perioperative protocols that improved patient outcomes.
Dr. Vojdani’s clinical practice is guided by what is best for each unique patient. He works to individualize care, whether it includes the many nonoperative modalities offered, or surgical intervention. When an operation is needed, Dr. Vojdani’s approach to surgery and perioperative care provides patients with the opportunity to have an expedited recovery following joint replacement surgery. He specializes in minimally-invasive surgical techniques including quadriceps-sparing knee replacement and direct anterior hip replacement, outpatient (same-day) joint replacement, multi-modal perioperative pain control treatments, customized knee replacements, partial knee replacements, computer-assisted and robotic joint replacement, and complex revision reconstructions and replacements.
Dr. Vojdani continues to contribute to the field of hip and knee joint replacement, publishing peer-reviewed articles in the leading journals, giving local and national presentations, serving as a reviewer for other surgeons’ published research, and taking an active role in national organizations and the education of future orthopedic surgeons.
Dr. Vojdani enjoys attending Atlanta sporting events, traveling, culinary experiences, and spending time with friends and family, including his wife, son, daughter, and dog Leo.
