About Dr. Guild

George N. Guild, III, M.D., is an exceptional orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement at Total Joint Specialists in Cumming, Georgia.

Dr. Guild is a New Orleans native and received his Bachelor of Science degree in cellular and molecular biology from Tulane University. He then attended medical school at LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans.

Once Dr. Guild completed his internship and orthopedic surgical residency at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, he pursued his subspecialty training, completing a fellowship at the prestigious Insall Scott Kelly® Institute for adult hip and knee reconstruction at Lenox Hill Hospital in the Upper East Side of New York City. Here, he learned state-of-the-art techniques in direct anterior hip replacement, minimally invasive hip and knee replacement, outpatient total joint replacement, and complex primary and revision joint replacement—techniques that he brings to his practice today!

Dr. Guild has been in clinical practice since 2013 and has performed nearly 7,000 total hip and knee replacements. With over 100 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, abstracts, and national presentations under his belt, he is seen by the medical community as an authority in hip and knee replacement surgery. Dr. Guild continues to develop leading-edge protocols advancing the field of joint reconstruction.

In 2019, Dr. Guild was appointed to the Insall Travelling Fellowship with The Knee Society, visiting 12 other academic centers and bringing those best practices back to Georgia. He has developed new hip and knee implants with device manufacturers, holds patents on several hip prosthesis technologies, and participates in the evaluation and utilization of new orthopedic implants. His charitable efforts include work with Operation Walk, a charitable organization performing joint replacement surgery in San Salvador.

When not in the office, Dr. Guild is an avid guitar player, scuba diver, and skier. You may find him listening to his favorite musical artist, Tab Benoit, or planning his next trip to El Salvador for Operation Walk.
