William Godfrey, MD, is a board certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon at Total Joint Specialists. Dr. Godfrey specializes in hip and knee replacement and revision surgery.
Dr. Godfrey is an Atlanta native and attended Georgia Institute of Technology for his undergraduate studies as a mechanical engineer where he graduated with highest honors. He worked as an engineer for Caterpillar in Illinois before returning to Georgia to begin his medical training at Emory University School of Medicine where he was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, the National Honor Medical Society. He remained at Emory University for his orthopedic surgery residency, where he served as chief resident. Dr. Godfrey then completed the Harvard Medical School Total Joint Arthroplasty Fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. These experiences provided Dr. Godfrey with advanced training in minimally invasive direct anterior hip replacement, same-day joint replacement, partial knee replacement, and robotic-assisted surgery.
Patients know that Dr. Godfrey takes pride in his individualized approach to patient care, which relies on communication and shared decision-making. His goal is to tailor nonoperative and operative interventions to each individual patient to maximize their function and quality of life.
Dr. Godfrey lives in Atlanta with his wife, three children, and dog Lucy. He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, mountain biking, and trail running in his spare time.
